Dear Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy Parents and Families:
In June, I informed the Goode STEM Academy school community that CPS was investigating allegations of sexual abuse of a student by a teacher. This required the district to reassign Principal Armando Rodriguez from his duties while we looked into the administration’s oversight of staff interactions with students.
I am pleased to report that CPS has not found any evidence of sexual abuse of a student, and Principal Rodriguez will return to Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy as principal on August 28, 2018.
Nothing is more important to Chicago Public Schools that the safety and well-being of our students, and we take allegations of sexual or physical abuse extremely seriously. While the past two months have no doubt been disruptive to the school community, this investigation was necessary to ensure that your student’s safety was being appropriately safeguarded.
With the investigation behind us, I am confident that Goode STEM Academy will continue to be a strong school community where students’ best interests are the central focus each and every day.

En junio, informé a la comunidad escolar de Goode STEM Academy que CPS estaba investigando denuncias de abuso sexual de un estudiante por parte de un maestro. Esto requirió que el distrito reasignara al Director Armando Rodríguez de sus deberes mientras revisábamos la supervisión de la administración de las interacciones del personal con los estudiantes.
Me complace informar que CPS no ha encontrado ninguna evidencia de abuso sexual de un estudiante, y el Director Rodríguez regresará a Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy como directora el 28 de agosto de 2018.
Nada es más importante para las Escuelas Públicas de Chicago que la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes, y tomamos las acusaciones de abuso sexual o físico extremadamente en serio.
