PAC and BAC met last Thursday. We are extremely grateful to the parents that were able to be present and vote on elected officials for the PAC. Dates for the remaining meetings throughout the school year have been determined and are listed below. If you were not able to make it to our last meeting, please join us at one of our future meetings. We would like to have as much parent participation as possible to collaboratively create the best learning outcomes for our students. Listed below will also be the information shared during our meeting.

  • Early College Testing- testing for 10th-12th grade will take place this Tuesday 09/26 and Thursday 09/28 promptly at 3pm in the Library. Students, please check your email for eligibility. 
  • Homecoming game and dance ticket sales have begun! Please see the attached Flyers for more information. Homecoming week is October 2nd-6th 
  • Students, you will receive an email soon with Homecoming Court Finalist. Be sure to submit your votes
  • Hispanic Heritage Month- Students, BOSS is working very hard to put together an amazing production in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. If you are interested in supporting the production, please see Ms. Ingram in Room 219! Also, please remember that the Hispanic Heritage Month committee has put together daily afterschool and advisory activities as well! See flyers around the school for more information!
  • UIC STEM Scholars- The STEM Scholars Program is a free six-week after-school program for Chicago high school students (9th - 12th grades) to reinforce their science knowledge through challenging hands-on activities and excite them about potential STEM majors and careers. The students also get a chance to speak with professionals in several STEM fields related to each topic covered to better understand the education and career requirements.

Students who show interest and commitment during the after-school program can earn a paid summer internship focused on energy efficiency and environmental justice at the Energy Resources Center at UIC. The internship also focuses on college preparedness and the experience of working in a professional environment.

The Fall 2023 STEM Scholars after-school program registration is now open! Registration closes on October 19th. Sessions start on October 23rd and end on December 7th.
